The Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design, in observance of Disability Awareness Month, presents Beyond Barriers: Creative Practices and Functional Difference, an exhibition highlighting innovative and expansive creative practices by artists who engage with physical, sensory, cognitive, or other functional differences. Rather than defining artists by limitation, the exhibition centers artistic agency, adaptability, and the wide range of possibilities that emerge from diverse ways of moving through and experiencing the world.
Featuring work across media, Beyond Barriers: Creative Practices and Functional Difference foregrounds artistic practice in its full complexity while also inviting reflection on access, care, and interdependence as generative forces in creative work. Together, the exhibition encourages viewers to consider how functional difference can reshape creative processes and contribute to more inclusive and imaginative futures.
