Reprieve from the constant noise of life is offered by minimal imagery that, instead of calling for attention through boldness, holds attention through subtlety. This allows the viewer a visual resting place paralleling the great works of minimal architecture that encompass the user in an experience of simple shapes and forms. As time is spent examining the work, these vast visual spaces emphasize the effect that a long thoughtful pause can have on a person accustomed to a fast paced and instantly gratifying world. By isolating and distilling the formal elements of design, each piece is a careful curation of only the most necessary components. Scientific support from psychological principles inform compositional choices that ensure positive visual experience. Focus on visual experience intentionally omits an identifiable message that would easily interfere with an elicited moment of mindfulness. The work is built from gentle color gradients, rounded squares and subtle surface details. Each visual tool is accessed and applied delicately to allow the viewer a release from existence.
