Louisa’s Garden, the Wylie House Museum’s latest exhibition, explores the way the eldest daughter of an IU professor was brave, complex, and is still cherished today. For Louisa’s Garden, Graduate Curatorship student Maddie Guy selected five ensembles from the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection. These five nineteenth century ensembles, though not directly related to Louisa Wylie Boisen (1839–1930), were carefully chosen to represent aspects of her life including Education, Motherhood, Travel, Religion, and Gardening.
Wylie House hours: Friday–Saturday, 10am–4pm. Free, guided tours begin on the hour every hour, with the last one beginning at 3pm. The museum is closed on major holidays, IU commencement weekend, and during Indiana University breaks. Please contact the museum to arrange group tours with more than eight people.
