Fine Arts Building 407
Using weaving, papermaking and other traditional craft processes, Fafnir Adamites creates sculptural works that act as monuments and reminders of trauma, intuition and the legacy of emotional turmoil inherited from past generations. Embedding meaning in both the materials and the repetitious processes plays a key role in building the conceptual backing of each piece.
Fafnir Adamites holds an M.F.A. degree from the Fiber and Material Studies Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a B.A. in Photography and Women’s Studies from UMass Amherst. Fafnir teaches fiber processes at the college level as well as Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program and Women’s Studio Workshop. Fafnir has shown their work nationally and has received a number of grants to support their exhibitions and studio practice. Fafnir is from Western Massachusetts and is a member of the Surface Design Association and Boston Sculptors Gallery.
