Joshua Kosker is an artist, jeweler/metalsmith, and educator, whose practice fuses traditional craft media and processes with unconventional materials and modes of making. Drawing from unexpected, commonly found, and often impermanent materials, Kosker’s research explores concepts of time, place, materiality, object and the body. In looking to jewelry and domestic objects, to explore universal and sometimes private subject matters, his work connects viewers and wearers alike to their personal and collective experiences. Kosker exhibits nationally and internationally, and his work has recently been published in several books, including New Brooches: 400+ Contemporary Jewellery Designs and Narrative Jewelry: Tales from the Toolbox. Kosker was the recipient of the Ethical Metalsmiths Emerging Artist Award in 2014, and has been awarded residencies at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Kosker earned his M.F.A. from Bowling Green State University, and his B.F.A. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
