Dan Mikesell is an educator, artist, designer and engineer. Before joining the faculty at Eskenazi School he taught at Indiana University, Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering. He has also taught at New York University Shanghai in the Interactive Media Art department. Prior to NYUSH he spent four years as a WCU (World Class University Grant) Professor at Hongik University, Seoul South Korea where he co- founded the Digital Art in Public Places Lab and co- founded HackerSpace Seoul, a creative incubator which earned grants from the Korean Foundation for Science and Creativity in 2011 and 2012 for their work on biological and biomimetic installation. His projects have been included in the New York Times, BBC, and Nam June Paik Art Center and shown in Europe, Asia and the United States. His work "Project : Prey" and "HODU” won the Research Challenge competition at SIGGRAPH two years in a row. Dan currently holds one U.S. patent and three Korean patents.
