A figurative painter whose works have been acquired by major collections of American art and a designer whose vision for healthcare and higher education spaces has improved user experience are the inaugural recipients of the Indiana University Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design’s Alumni Excellence Award.
Painter and printmaker Danielle Orchard (B.F.A. ’09, Studio Art) and interior designer Jamie Raymond (B.S. ’99, Interior Design) have been named 2026 Eskenazi School Alumni Excellence Award recipients.
Jamie Raymond (B.S. ’99, Interior Design)
A highly respected leader in the interior design profession,
Raymond will be recognized
Tuesday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. during the
Interior Design Capstone Show at the Gayle Karch Cook Center in Maxwell Hall.
Raymond has had a meaningful impact on health and well-being in Indiana and the nation through the design of medical facilities. Co-founder and partner of Four Point Design, a firm that serves higher education and healthcare clients, Raymond is known for her use of evidence-based design (EBD) to improve the experience of those who use healthcare spaces. EBD integrates scientific research into design decisions to improve physiological, psychological, and environmental outcomes.
Raymond’s firm designed interiors at the Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis and Riley Children’s Health Emergency Medicine at IU Health Fishers, among others.

Danielle Orchard (B.F.A. ’09, Studio Art)
Danielle Orchard has built a distinguished, international career on paintings that re-examine the canon of modern art through a contemporary, psychologically charged lens. Drawing on analytic cubism, saturated color, and sculptural paint handling, she constructs multi-perspectival figures and interiors that insist on the complexity of women’s experience.
Represented by Perrotin, Orchard has had major solo shows in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai over the last five years. Her paintings belong to the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Phillips Collection, and Pérez Art Museum Miami. She has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Artnet, and Harper’s Bazaar.
“Orchard's trajectory demonstrates how rigorous studio training, art-historical fluency, and professional discipline can translate into sustained global impact," writes Caleb Weintraub, associate professor and area head of painting at the Eskenazi School. "Her ongoing visibility as an Indiana University alum redounds to the Eskenazi School’s legacy and inspires students pursuing ambitious careers in the arts."
Orchard will be recognized at an alumni gathering in New York in May.
