The Studio Art Department and Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design (AMID) will be merging to become the School of Art and Design in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University. This exhibit is the first time that members of the two departments will be exhibiting together as a faculty.
Artworks created by more than forty faculty artists representing studio art’s nine studio areas and Interior and Apparel Design and Architecture are on view. Works in a variety of media including textiles, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, sculpture, digital art, video, photography, painting, metalsmithing, and landscape architecture works will be shown.
Exhibiting artists include tenured, tenure-track, and emeritus faculty, as well as visiting faculty members who are participating for the first time. Arthur Liou, chair of the Department of Studio Art, states, “The footprint of our faculty research and exhibitions spans from the usual metropolises of New York, Miami, Tokyo and Paris to major cultural initiations far and beyond these hubs. The faculty exhibition provides a wonderful opportunity for us to share our progress back in Bloomington.”
Many of the award-winning faculty artists have exhibited nationally and internationally, including recent and upcoming shows in Chicago, Houston, New York City, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Paraguay. Works by some participating members have been included in museum collections around the world, and featured and reviewed in prestigious arts journals and magazines.
