The painting area at the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design focuses on what makes painting distinct and vital as a discipline, set within a larger multidisciplinary studio program. Our area offers deep investigation of painting as an action and a material object, balanced with broad exposure and feedback from disciplinary practices across the school’s nine areas. Research, critique, and professional development support the studio, giving students ways to situate their work in the field of contemporary art. B.F.A. and M.F.A. students work closely with faculty on independent research, exhibition, and thesis development.
