Balancing Act contains works from Boger’s career as a renowned ceramic artist and professor at the School of Art, Architecture, and Design at Indiana University, Bloomington. Interested in the balancing act of the human animal caught between impulse and control, individual versus group, and the “fragile, vulnerable veneer” of our shared cultural behavior, her work exists at the confluence of high and low art, of traditional figurative sculpture and domestic decorative figurines.

Rough and Unequal, a film by Kevin Jerome Everson, is being exhibited as the centerpiece for a symposium featuring the filmmaker in conversation with IU Faculty, students and Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields Associate Curator of American Art, Kelli Morgan. The exhibit was organized by the Grunwald Gallery and the Black Film Center/Archive.

Every Breath We Drew: Jess Dugan, has been widely published and noted as one of the important series of photographs depicting intimacy and identity. Rather than attempting to describe a specific identity or group, the gender identity and sexual orientation of the individuals varies greatly. Every Breath We Drew asks larger questions about identity is formed, desire is expressed, and intimate connection is sought. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to address the political and cultural nuances of gender, inclusion, and representation.
Memory is a rich theme in the history of art and many contemporary artists employ it in their studio practice. Presented in collaboration with “Themester 2019: Remembering and Forgetting”, this exhibition includes artists in the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design and the Bloomington community. The show features works in film and video, objects, paintings, photography and other media.
Jerald Jacquard is a Bloomington, Indiana artist and Indiana University emeritus professor with a distinguished career of close to sixty years. This exhibition contains works from the many stages of his career. Jacquard’s work is included in numerous museum and private collections. He is known primarily for his monumental sculpture.
The Grunwald Gallery at Indiana University is pleased to present Ongoing Matter, a multi-platform, traveling collection of new poster designs that mobilizes political engagement. An opening reception will take place at the Grunwald Gallery on December 6 from 6-8pm.
The Grunwald Gallery presents the Fall 2019 B.F.A. Thesis Show. The thesis shows are the culmination of each B.F.A. student’s studies during the program. In order to gain professional experience, they participate in the planning of their show and the installation of their work.
