The Grunwald Gallery at Indiana University is pleased to present Remembering and Forgetting, an exhibition containing works by over fifteen artists from the Bloomington area. The exhibit, organized by The Grunwald Gallery, and sponsored by Themester 2019, an initiative of the IU College of Arts and Sciences, will open on October 11 and continue through November 20, 2019. Noon talks by selected artists will be presented on Friday, October 25 and November 1 at the Grunwald Gallery.
Memory is a rich theme in the history of art and many contemporary artists employ it in their
studio practice. This exhibition explores the diverse methods artists use to engage with the theme of memory, and the visual manifestations of remembering and forgetting as a part of personal and collective experience. Remembering and Forgetting includes artists in the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design and the Bloomington community and features works in film and video, objects, paintings, photography and other media.
