Eskenazi School Scholarships for Incoming First-Year Students
To be eligible for one of these scholarships, you must submit a complete admissions application by November 1, and list an Eskenazi School major as your intended program of study.
Once you have been admitted to IU and meet this criterion, you will be invited to complete the General Scholarship Application.
Part of the landmark renaming gift of $20 million from Sidney and Lois Eskenazi includes a scholarship for incoming first year students. The scholarship is named after Lois Eskenazi, who is an avid painter and lover of the arts.
Amount: $12,000 divided among four years ($3,000/year) Majors: Any Eskenazi major Class standing: Incoming freshmen; renewable Preference or special considerations: Studio Art majors who show an interest in painting
This gift is to be used to support a student who is pursuing a degree in Studio Art.

Stephen Malashock, B.A. 1975, M.B.A. 1977, and Jane Malashock, B.A. 1977, established this scholarship to acknowledge the important role of arts and humanities education at Indiana University. They met as undergraduate students and have a deep appreciation for the experience they shared and the education they received.
Amount: $10,000 divided among four years ($2,500/year) Majors: Studio Art major Class standing: Incoming freshmen; renewable Preference or special considerations: Studio Art majors only
This scholarship was established by the Honorable P.A. Mack, Jr, who is a trustee of the Indiana University Foundation. Mack named the Susan Barker Yeley Scholarship for a longtime friend and fellow IU graduate. Yeley now lives in Bloomington, where she heads Susan Yeley Interiors, a full-service residential design firm.

FAQ
Invitations for the Selective Scholarship Application are sent on a rolling basis beginning in October and the application closes on February 1.
Incoming, first-year students who have been admitted to IU Bloomington and have indicated an Eskenazi School major on their application will receive an invitation to complete the Selection Scholarship Application shortly after being admitted. You do not need to be a direct admit student.
Decisions will be sent on a rolling basis beginning in March. Only selected scholarship recipients will be emailed a decision. If you do not receive communication before May 1, you have not been selected for a scholarship. Decisions will be emailed to the email address submitted on your scholarship application, so please continuously check your email inbox and spam folder.
You have until May 1 to accept/decline your scholarship offer.
If you change your major to one outside of the Eskenazi School, then you will no longer be considered for our scholarships. If you change your major to a different one within the Eskenazi School, you will still be considered for our scholarships.
Yes, a portfolio is required for all scholarships regardless of your intended major.
Portfolio instructions and criteria are included in your invitation to the Selective Scholarship Application. We typically request 5–10 pieces, work can range in discipline and skill level, must be combined into one PDF file, and include a description of the piece.
The number of recipients depends on scholarship availability.
Our incoming, first year scholarships are four (4) year awards divided and dispersed each fall and spring semester. Funds are posted to your bursar account at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester you are enrolled (up to four years).
Students admitted to Indiana University Bloomington may defer enrollment for up to one year. If a student completes the deferral process by the deadline, eligibility for our incoming, first year scholarships will carry forward. Once you complete the form and enroll in fulltime coursework for the new enrollment semester, your original scholarship offer should appear on your account that same semester. Please keep us notified if you decide to defer.
