Indiana Tattoo: History and Legacy
Indiana Tattoo: History and Legacy, is an exhibit co-curated by Indiana native and internationally known tattooer Colin McClain and Jeremy Sweet, Associate Director of the Grunwald Gallery. The exhibit will contain examples of the work and lifestyles of historically influential tattooers from Indiana’s past.
The MFA Group Show includes works created by first and second year MFA students from the Studio Art Department, School of Art and Design. These exhibitions feature student works that utilize traditional and non-traditional styles and techniques in a variety of media from all studio areas: ceramics, digital art, graphic design, metalsmithing and jewelry design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles.

After All (Mending the Sky) by Beili Liu
After All (Mending the Sky) is a site-specific installation by Beili Liu, Assistant Professor, College of Fine Arts, University of Texas, Austin, which will occupy the east wing of the Grunwald Gallery as part of the Global Arts and Humanities Festival at Indiana University this February.
The Light/Matter Symposium will feature lectures, panel discussions, and an Open House with participation by the curators and artists from Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Four of the exhibiting artists will be invited to attend, present key-note lectures and participate in panel discussions and an open house in the printmaking studios. Each of them is internationally recognized for their innovative work in photo based printmaking and will be able to share their experiences and expertise throughout the three days of events.
Light/Matter: The Intersection of Photography and Printmaking
Light/Matter is an exhibition curated by Tracy Templeton, Associate Professor in Studio Art at Indiana University; Walter Jule, Professor Emeritus at the University of Alberta and Ingrid Ledent, Professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp, Belgium. The exhibition will feature up to seventy works by forty-five artists spanning sixteen countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
The Grunwald Gallery in conjunction with the IU Eskenazi Museum of Art, is pleased to present the exhibition and symposium A Shared Elegy. The exhibit will open on October 13 and continue through November 16, 2017. A 112-page book, A Shared Elegy will be published and distributed through Indiana University Press.
The Grunwald Gallery at Indiana University Bloomington is pleased to present the exhibition Kinship, curated by Assistant Professor of Photography, Elizabeth M. Claffey and Gallery Director, Betsy Stirratt. The exhibit will contain photographs and installation pieces by six U.S. based contemporary artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. The exhibit will open on October 13 and continue through November 16, 2017. Photographer Priya Kambli will present a public lecture about her work on Thursday, November 2 at 5:30 pm in the Grunwald Gallery.
The Fall 2017 B.F.A. Thesis Shows feature work created by graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts students in the School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University. Each exhibition features student work from a variety of the studio areas: digital art, graphic design, metalsmithing and jewelry design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. To gain professional experience, exhibiting students participate in the planning of their shows and installation of their pieces.
