Tracy Templeton's early work documented abandoned rural prairie homesteads. Raised on a Saskatchewan grain farm, she explores intersections of memory and present experience. Her art captures the subtle transformations of time, emphasizing the seemingly unremarkable moments that occur between events and what endures—how memories resurface as evocative fragments. Her printmaking employs photo-etching, photography, and digital processes to articulate her research. Through these methods, her work offers a nuanced exploration of landscapes and their mutability, reflecting on the interplay between past and present in shaping the understanding of place.
Templeton joined the printmaking faculty at Indiana University in 2013. She previously taught at Southern Oregon University, the University of Alberta, the University of Regina, and Illinois State University. Her work has been widely exhibited across the United States and internationally, with more than 100 exhibitions in Canada, Mexico, England, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, China, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea.
