Amanda Smith approaches painting from multiple material perspectives including drawing, collage, and quilting to explore interpretations and experiences of landscape. She earned a B.A. from the University of Puget Sound and an M.F.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Smith has taught at Minnesota State University, Missouri State University, and served in program director and curatorial roles with the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts and the Union for Contemporary Art. She has exhibited and lectured nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at SPRING/BREAK in NY, the Rochester Art Center, the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, and the International Quilt Museum. Smith has been a visiting artist at many universities including Temple University, Rome, Italy, the University of Kansas, and the University of South Carolina. Smith has been an artist-in-residence at Fljótstunga in Iceland, Arrowmont Pentaculum, Monson Arts in Maine, and Est-Nord-Est in Quebec, Canada.
