Early in your final year, follow these steps to complete your degree, graduate, and participate in Commencement.
Step one: Fulfill your degree requirements
Consult your advisor to determine if you have fulfilled your degree requirements and are on track for graduation.

Undergraduate students
As a student within the College of Arts and Sciences, you must apply for graduation through the College Recorder’s Office.
You must have a valid IU network ID and password to apply for graduation online.

Graduate students
As a student within the University Graduate School, you must apply for graduation through the University Graduate School Recorder’s Office.

Step three: Participate in commencement
Participating in a Commencement ceremony is optional. But if you choose to participate, read the following information applicable to your graduation semester.
Spring ceremony for undergraduates
The Undergraduate Spring Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Memorial Stadium.
Undergraduate students who complete degree requirements between January 1 and August 31 participate in May Commencement. There is no summer ceremony.

The Graduate Commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021, at 3 p.m. in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
Graduate students who complete degree requirements between January 1 and August 31 participate in May Commencement. There is no summer ceremony.

Winter Commencement, also called December Commencement, will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2019, at 5p.m. EST in the university’s first ever virtual Commencement.
If you have earned or will earn your degree in any month of the 2020 calendar year, you’re eligible to participate in the official virtual Commencement
