An architectural rendering of a pod-shaped building in the desert.

AIDIASTUDIO is a platform of experimental design in architecture, urbanism, photography and other creative disciplines. They work across scales and typologies from interiors to masterplans and strive always for specific responses with intricate and sophisticated beauty. The term  AIDIA is born as the transliteration of the english word idea [ ahy-dee-uh, ahy-deeuh] into spanish and polish. Every project starts with a brainstorm of ideas but only the best one sifts through the creative process and materializes into the final product. In today’s multicultural world transliteration is a constant feature in written communication; it not only provides a means of access to a foreign script, it also helps marrying cultural traits, deconstructing terms and expanding our own vocabularies.

Rolando Rodrigues-Leal gained his Bachelor in Architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City in 2002. After graduation he worked on a number of private commissions and in 2003 he was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Master in Housing and Urbanism in the Architectural Association in London.

Soon after graduation Rolando joined the studio of Foster + Partners in London, while in there he worked on a number of projects including the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Mexico City, the Appeals Court of Justice in Madrid and in 2006 he led the winning competition entry for the Motor City complex in Alcañiz, Spain.

In 2008 Rolando joined Zaha Hadid Architects as Lead Architect where he was involved in the design of a number of projects and competitions such as the Dubai Opera House and the People’s Conference Hall in Lybia. In 2009 he was part of the core team setting up the Beijing studio. From China he was the project architect for the façade of the Galaxy SOHO project which is due for completion in September 2012.

In 2013 Rolando joined Ateliers Jean Nouvel as a Senior Project Architect where he led the façade package as well as exterior works coordination for the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, UAE.

Rolando has been a guest critic at Tsinghua University in Beijing as well as Universidad Iberoamericana. He currently is an Adjunct Professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana and is leading the Design and Digital Fabrication Studio.

Rolando is a licensed architect in Mexico (CAM SAM) and holds a LEED Green Associate credential.

In 2018 he co-founded  AIDIASTUDIO with Natalia Wrzask.
