German-born Ghanaian artist living in the United States, Yvonne Osei is hyperaware of her hybridity and position as both an outsider and an insider. She describes herself as an outsider artist making insider art, referencing her West African roots while acknowledging her close to six years living in St. Louis, Missouri. Yvonne works in photo, video, performance, digital print and installation.
She’s recently had solo shows at Bruno David Gallery where she is represented, Laumeier Sculpture Park, took part in A Scientist-Artist Collaborative regarding Fashion and the Brain through University of Missouri St. Louis, and was recently featured in a portrait by Kehinde Wiley.
