Montauk Resort features installation by Eskenazi Painting B.F.A.

An installation by Eskenazi grad Danielle Orchard (B.F.A. '09) in the lobby of the Surf Lodge at Montauk was named among the " 5 Things Galerie Editors Love This Week" in the magazine's August 2, 2022 edition.  The IU painting grad is one of several artists involved in an "art takeover" of the Hamptons hotel this month. " The staple Montauk destination has gotten a revamp with new commissions by their four artists-in-residence," writes Stephanie Li.  "Vibrant murals by Tarsila Schubert and Heart Evangelista cover the stage and beach areas, while a site-specific installation by Danielle Orchard featuring her lounging female figures envelopes the lobby. In addition, Anthony James’s mesmerizing light sculptures are scattered around the property."  Orchard's installation at the venue known as "an art hub of the East End" also got a mention in Vogue magazine's list of " What's New in the Hamptons? The Restaurants, Hotels, and Stores to Know This Summer."

The Brooklyn-based Orchard is represented by Jack Hanley Gallery in New York City and V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, DK. When it opened at the Jack Hanley Gallery in 2018, the Michigan City, Ind.-born painter's first solo show "A Little Louder, Love" was reviewed in and The New York Times and The Cut, which described "the works on display [as] bright with color and action, complete and familiar scenes the viewer can almost step into...Orchard’s style of cubism evokes the work of Pablo Picasso, but her vivid colors recall the effervescence of Henri Matisse’s canvases."
