My name is Sarah Fazni, and I am pursuing a master's degree in arts administration at Indiana University. I received my BFA in Painting from IU [in 2024]. I love using oil and acrylic paints to explore nostalgia, form, and the complex relationship between figures and patterns. My artwork combines personal memories with present experiences, creating collages that focus on the connection between color, form, and memory. I am drawn to how patterns from clothing or objects connect me to people and evoke nostalgia, so I merge them with figures in my work. In my work, old photographs interact with newer ones, which bridges the past and present through shared environments and the figures within them.
I currently have work displayed in the "Emerge: Asian American Art in Focus" exhibition at the Gayle Karch Cook Center for Public Arts and Humanities (750 E. Kirkwood Ave).
