Part of a recent tide of downtown revitalization, the ground-to-wall mural reprises Jasper's musical legacy.

M.F.A. ceramicist Michelle Solorzano featured at Bloomington's Lotus Festival
At Saturday's Lotus in the Park, M.F.A. ceramicist Michelle Solorzano will show visitors how to make masks inspired by the pageantry of Carnival in her native Dominican Republic. Solorzano is the featured visual artist of the 30th annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival, taking place Sept 28-Oct 1.

Liliana Guzmán (M.F.A. '21) honored for art exploring Latina identity
Eskenazi alumna Liliana Guzmán (M.F.A. '21, Studio Art) has received the 2023 Rhonda Wilson Award for her series, "Next to Myself: Visualizing the Multiple Layers of the Latinx Female Experience." Guzmán was selected from among an international cadre of emerging photographers for her expressionistic images that incorporate photographic self-portraiture and painting.
Studio art grad Sougwen Chung (B.F.A. '07) named in TIME100 AI
Sougwen Chung (B.F. A. '07, Studio Art) has been named to Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in AI. Chung, who participated in the Eskenazi School-led Creativity in the Age of AI summit earlier this year, trains robots to physically paint in tandem with them on massive canvases.

Grunwald celebrates Indiana ceramics in two new shows
The Grunwald Gallery celebrates ceramics in Indiana with two new shows complementing the third biennial Indiana Clay Conference, to be held Oct. 7-8 at IU and in Bloomington. Opening Friday, August 25, "State of Clay III" will showcase work by ceramicists across the state participating in the conference and "Derivations" highlights work by 11 Eskenazi alumni.
Donate broken, old jewelry today: IU metalsmiths to rework, recycle pieces
Eskenazi metalsmithing students will transform jewelry being donated by community members this summer as part of Radical Jewelry Makeover, a campaign to promote more ethical material sourcing. Transformed pieces will be exhibited at the Grunwald Gallery in January.
